How does it work?
SYEP has developed educational programmes called the Tranquillity Zone and Discovery Zone (more on the Tranquillity Zone and Discovery Zone is here). The Tranquillity Zone includes visualisation and music in a peaceful environment. Here, in a calm, relaxed and beautifully decorated room, young people are asked to contemplate on their “gems of inestimable value” – the potential and capacity that everyone possesses. This is followed by Discovery Zone sessions when young people are encouraged to verbalise their thoughts and feelings on their Tranquillity Zone experience, and participate in inspiring and stimulating activities enabling them to discover their 'higher nature'.
Most importantly, young people must be given the opportunity, having attended the initial programmes, to move from being a recipient of service to the role of a contributor. Therefore, further modules of the SYEP help provide young people with confidence and skills to engage in simple acts of service to others.
