Introduction to the Programme

The Swindon Young People's Empowerment Programme (SYEP) is a foundation course based upon two principles around which the programme is organised:

  • Every one is regarded as '...a mine rich in gems of inestimable value.' 1

  • That 'every child is potentially the light of the world and at the same time its darkness.' 2

The course consists of two modules, comprising six 90-minute sessions each, which are delivered on a weekly basis.  It has been developed for young people in primary and secondary schools, although it can easily be adapted for older youth. Sessions are delivered in two parts: An inspiring Tranquillity Zone experience followed by a participative experience called a Discovery Zone.

The links above will tell you about the two fundamental components of the Programme
